DEPARTMENT OF History PROFILE

PROFILE

INTRODUCTION:The Department of History was established in 1981 and provided a B.A (H.E.P) program with a sanctioned strength of 60 students. The department possesses excellent teaching and learning facilities. The majority of classes take place in the digital classroom, and PPT-based lessons are taught using an LCD projector. One teaching position has been authorised and presently Mr. Sarath Babu is currently working in this position. He has over 18 years of experience in the field of teaching History. It is one of the college's top departments. Participatory and student-centric methods are used in the department, including induction training, assignments, study projects, quizzes, student seminars, field trips, community service projects, internships, and workshops. The department also provides innovative projects for meritorious students, remedial classes for slow-learners and extends ward counselling.

VISION:The department of History aims at providing extensive and unparalleled knowledge in the subject of History to the rural, marginal and downtrodden students by making them aware of the past and its legacies through teaching, research and extension activities in World History in general and A.P History and Indian history in particular. It is firmly believed that only a critical study of the past enables the students to understand the present thereby looking at the future in an optimistic way.

MISSION:  The department of History works with the following objectives as its mission:

1. To inculcate the predetermined syllabus that reflects the glory of India’s past and its historical connections with the world.

2. To develop among the students their ability to understand the subject by involving them in field trips and encouraging them to take part in seminars and inspiring them to stage prominent historical events.

3. To transform the students into citizens who are capable of critically analysing the past and its consequences.

4. To enable the students to deal with the challenges of globalisation by instilling in them a life-long passion for learning about the past.

5. To impart the knowledge of interconnections among the global, national, regional and local histories which are meant to equip the students to face the challenges with confidence.
