National Cadet Corps (NCC) - Overview

About the NCC:The NATIONAL CADET CORPS is theIndian Military Cadet Corps with its headquarters at New Delhi. It is open to school and college students on voluntary basis. Unity and Discipline is the motto of NCC. The NCC unit of Sri VSSC Government Degree College, is granted by 24 Andhra BattalionNCC, coming under Guntur Groupand AP Directorate, Secunderabad. Total strength of the unit is 52 cadets. The cadets are given basic military training in small arms and parades. The unit is headed by Major. Dr.J. Subrahmanyam, Associate NCC officer and Professor of Physics.

Objective:Aims of NCC:

• To develop character, comradeship, discipline, leadership, secular outlook, spirit of adventure, sportsmanship and ideals of selfless service among the youth of the country.
• To Create human resource of organised, trained and motivated youth, to provide leadership in all walks of life and always be available for the service of the nation.
• To provide a suitable environment to motivate the youth to take up a career in the Armed forces.

Oath

"I do hereby solemnly promise that I will serve my motherland most truly and loyally and that, I will abide by the rules and regulations of the National Cadet Crops. Further under the command and control of my commanding officer I will participate in every camp most sincerely and wholeheartedly".

Pledge

We the cadet of the national cadet corps, do solemnly pledge that we shall always uphold the unity of India. We resolve to be disciplined and responsible citizen of our nation. We shall undertake positive community service in the spirit of selflessness and concern for our fellow beings.

Vision and Mission:

Vision: To create awareness among the student community regarding its importance towards nation building.

Mission: To create a pool of trained, organized and motivated youth with various leadership qualities in every walk of their life and serve the Nation irrespective of career they choose.
