Red Ribbon Club - Overview

As per the instructions given by the Commissioner of Collegiate Education, Vijayawada RedRibbonClub(RRC)wasestablishedinSVSSCGovernmentCollege,Sullurpeton21/01/2020.
The important objectives of Red RibbonClub(RRC) are:
To prepare youth as peer educators/agents of change both among youth as well associety at large by developing their skills on leadership, advocacy, communication andteambuilding.
ToincreaseawarenessamongyouthonsexualreproductivehealthandHIV/AIDS.
Toreducetheoccurrenceofnewsexuallytransmittedinfections(incidence),particularlyHIV,amongyouth.
Toencouragevoluntaryblooddonations.
Create and train, among the youth, a cadre of peer educators for spreading awarenessaboutHIV-AIDSanditspreventioninthe community.
To conduct HIV/AIDS awareness rallies every yearon the occasion of World AIDSDayi.e.1^stDecember.
The RRC Advisory Committee was alsoconstituted in the chairmanship of the collegePrincipal.

An awareness programme and a rally were conducted on 01/12/2019 on the eve of WorldAIDSday.Inthisprogramme30students wereactivelyparticipated.
RRCvoluntaryMembershiptakingprogramwasconductedouton22/01/2020.Inthisprogrmme 65 numbers of students of all classes and groups (both male and female) werejoinedas RRCvolunteers andtookRRC membership.
On 23/01/2020 Peer Educators selection program was carried out and selected 15 numbers ofstudentsfromallgroups andclasses (inMaleandFemaleequalproportion).
A Training program was conducted to the Peer Educators on 24/01/2020. In this program RedRibbon Club coordinator, Sri. Y Manjunatha Reddy explained the role of Peer Educators andindepthcontentonHIV/AIDSandlife skills.
An Awareness Program on HIV/ AIDS and Voluntary Blood donation was organized on28/01/2020 with involvement of DACPU member, Master Trainer and Positive Speaker. Inthis session about 120 students from all classes participated and gained in depth knowledgeaboutHIV/AIDSandVoluntarybloodcdonation.
