The Department of Economics was established in 1981 with a commitment to academic excellence and holistic development.the department has now evolved in tune with the autonomous status of the college, offering Economics as a Major Subject.

The department is well-equipped with modern teaching-learning facilities, including ICT-enabled classrooms, virtual learning platforms, and LCD projectors. The faculty members are highly experienced, dedicated, and student-friendly, with rich teaching experience.

The department follows student-centric teaching methodologies, focusing on experiential and participative learning. Various academic and extension activities are regularly organized, such as student seminars, assignments, quizzes, guest lectures, field visits, workshops, and internships.

Special emphasis is given to skill development, research orientation, and real-world application of economic concepts. The department also conducts remedial classes for slow learners, provides mentoring and counseling, and encourages meritorious students through innovative projects.
